Joan Hanauer of the United Press International reported on July 12th, 1983: "Moving violation: As a publicity stunt last week, Incredible Hulk Lou Ferrigno arrived at a preview of his new film Hercules driving a chariot drawn by two white horses. The theater was near the Sunset Strip and special permission had been obtained to drive the chariot down Sunset Boulevard to be greeted by the bevy of studio-supplied "Vestal Virgins" and a crowd of photographers. All went well until a Los Angeles policeman noticed the chariot had no license plates. He pulled out his ticket book and cited Ferrigno for violation of section 5200 of the California Vehicle Code that covers driving a vehicle without a licence plate. The officer told Ferrigno that, stunt or no stunt, the ticket was real and he had two weeks to appear before the court or pay the fine." The same "news" was reported by the Montreal Gazette under the headline "Even the Incredible Hulk can't ride a chariot without a licence".

The next day the Montreal Gazette's Doug Camilli wrote in his column entitled "We've had it with the Silly Green Giant": "Ahem. I've been conned by some great stupid green monster in a chariot. That policeman giving Lou Ferrigno a ticket for driving a chariot without a licence, as reported here yesterday, wasn't a cop at all. He was yet another costumed studio extra involved in this stupid promotion for Lou's new movie, Hercules."

Web site back online

Lou Ferrigno - the Ultimate Hercules web site is back online after Tripod.com removed it for "explicit text". The new address is bugaev.atwebpages.com. Most of the stuff should be working by now, and there's a new gallery of video captures from the Seven Magnificent Gladiators. I have also started this blog where I am going to post new materials from time to time. Thanks for your support!
